Good luck everyone 😊

Oh Olga 😍

Seeing as it’s #NationalDogDay I couldn’t resist a bit of unapologetic dog spam.

Like it’s not dog day in our house EVERY day…and she knows it.

The response to yesterday’s post about Secrets of The Sea has been outrageously generous and kind - only making the long countdown to publication day on September 16th all the more excruciating!

While we wait, as promised, here’s a quick flick through to give you a little taste of what gorgeous species the book has in store for you 😊

I’m asked all the time if or when I might create a colouring book about sea creatures…well ask no more, I give you, ’Secrets of The Sea’!

Jam-packed with sometimes weird but always wonderful creatures that live in and around our oceans, I absolutely loved drawing up this collection of remarkable species.

From the mighty humpback whale to etherial sea dragons, acrobatic dolphins to otherworldly jellyfish, featuring sea creatures we all know and love along with some of the more unusual species that call the sea home, I can’t wait to share this one with you.

It’ll be out on September 16th, so a good few weeks to go yet. But for those of you itching to know you’ll have a copy on its way you can pre-order from your local independent book stores or most online booksellers.

I’ll be sharing a look inside soon so keep your 👀 peeled.
🐬 🦀 🐋 🐠

Publication day is finally here for ‘A Wild Child’s Guide to Endangered Animals’ in paperback.

In all its colourful glory ‘Wild Child’ tells the stories of some of the gorgeous beasts from around the globe in danger of extinction that we don’t often hear about. Learn of the dodo’s long-lost cousin, the incredible shrinking reindeer, tree-dwelling baby dragons and so many more creatures deserving of a little time in the spotlight.

A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals will be out in paperback on July 1st.

I absolutely loved making this book and adore this cover, which features just a few of the brilliant creatures found within. Thanks @penguinukbooks @_tometherington for helping make it the gem that it is... even if I do say so myself! ☺️

Something new is brewing 😊...

When @pembrokeshirecoasttrust and I teamed up on the hedgehog colouring competition to raise

awareness of their Wild About Woodlands campaign, I could never have imagined such a fantastic array of colourful hogs, all bought to life with such imagination & flair. Fittingly, I just discovered that a group of hedgehogs is called an ‘array’ of hedgehogs, how apt. 🦔 🦔 🦔

Perusing all the amazing entries over the last few weeks has certainly brightened up what has been a tricky start to 2021 for many and at last the time has come to announce the three winners. As usual, I found it nigh on impossible to chose just three out of so many worthy hogs, but chose I must.

So without further ado I’d like to say a huge congratulations to @kasheeda_kaar , @seannabear and 5yr old Lucas (entry posted by his mum @lumiashirolima ). We’ll be in touch to organise sending out your prizes.

Scroll through to see all three winning entries.

A massive heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part, it always feels so wrong choosing just a handful of winners when all the entries are so strong and you have all put in so much time and effort. Nevertheless, I hope you all had fun bringing your hedgehogs to life for this competition and am already looking forward to the next 😊

*NEW YEAR COLOURING COMPETITION*

A little late to the party but Happy New Year all!

Here’s to this one being better and brighter than the last, for everyone.

To get off to a positive start @pembrokeshirecoasttrust and I have teamed up as part of their Wild About Woodlands campaign to bring you a new year colouring competition, with a brilliant prize bundle for three lucky winners.

For full details and to download the hedgehog colouring sheet, just head over to @pembrokeshirecoasttrust and check out their their Wild About Woodlands post.

Looking forward to seeing what you all create 😊

What a lovely thing it is to see so many gorgeous images popping up from Woodland Wild.

Here are just a few of the incredible pieces shared over the last few weeks, swipe to see them all. Thank you to the talented creators of these fabulous pieces, all of whom are tagged in the artwork.

If you’d like to share your work from any of my books just use #milliemarotta or add them to my colouring gallery, which you can find a link to in my bio. Keep them coming you lovely lot😊

Every once in a while I manage to find a little window of time for a bit of colouring myself, though it seems I’m destined to never actually finish any of them 😬.

I coloured this Ginkgo from Woodland Wild using @artezaofficial Expert pencils, which until now I’d never used before but after seeing lots of you mention them here and over in the colouring gallery, I wanted to try them out for myself. And I’m pretty impressed - they keep a really nice point so they’re great for all those little details (a biggie for me) and the colours blend and layer beautifully. I’ll post a quick time lapse in my stories to show this little section coming together 😊

It’s an absolute pleasure once again to be supporting the wonderful @explorersagainstextinction by donating this original drawing to their annual charity auction, which is now underway.

Over the years, the #SketchForSurvival campaign has been a roaring success in raising vital funds for front line conservation projects worldwide and I was thrilled to be invited back again this year.

The auction is open until November 29th, so there’s a way to go yet, but I’d love my little tanager to raise as much as possible this year so I’m shouting about it early! 📢😊

WOW! What an eye-poppingly beautiful example for those of you who love to colour your creatures using a palette that’s true to life.

Thank you @colorartbybettyhung for sharing your incredible kakapo from Woodland Wild 😍

It’s time for the big reveal of our competition winners 🥳

This was hands down the hardest yet to judge, you lot certainly don’t make things easy. With over 400 entries, which quite frankly were beyond anything I could ever have imagined in terms of techniques, materials, skills, colour palettes, backgrounds…I’ve never been so impressed. And after hours of whittling it down, even my shortlist still contained over 70 entries. For that reason I’ve decided to add a bonus winner and instead of 7 winners there are now 8.

So, not to keep you waiting any longer, here (in no particular order) are our fabulous winners - scroll through to see all 8.

Huge congratulations to Agata Sobierska, @holmrtn , @misspiloute , @ANNEtiques , @lesalikes , @jubrockman , @anaclaudia.souto and Myriam Iparraguirre. We’ll be in touch to organise sending out your prizes.

I really had my work cut out for me on this one and could easily have chosen 100 winners, or more! So, THANK YOU to everyone for taking part and bringing my bumblebee to life with such imagination and creativity. Seeing all your amazing work makes me so proud to be part of this brilliant community, I only wish I could send prizes to each and every one of you 😊

*Secret Colouring Download*

If you don’t already know about these enchanting creatures, look them up. As you learn how elusive they are it’s easy to see how they have been dubbed ‘Asia’s Unicorn’. This illustration is from my Children’s book ‘A Wild Child’s Guide to Endangered Animals’.

Love gathering a collection of sketches as a book takes shape.

Pop quiz, any guesses what this splendid creature is? 😊

Very lucky to have a friend like @wildwelshswimmer who took us swimming yesterday to this amazing spot 😍

A step away from the black and white drawings today for an afternoon of colouring - since I’m

constantly ogling and admiring all the fabulous images coloured and shared by you lovely lot, I thought it only fair that I share some of my own.

Making my books keeps me more than busy these days so it’s not often I have time to make work for other projects.

But when I was invited to create a map for my own imaginary island for ‘An Atlas of Imagined Islands’, edited by explorer extraordinaire @huwlewisjones , I couldn’t resist. This book is a gem and my map is in great company alongside some real corkers by a whole host of wonderful illustrators.

It’s not very often you’ll catch me posting my mug on here but I’m excited to share this news...

After a LONG time deliberating (it’s literally taken me since the competition closed on Monday night) it’s time, at last, to announce the winners of the dormice colouring competition.

Before I do though, I have to say that this really was the toughest one to judge yet. I know I say that every time, but you all continue to raise the bar and the quality of entries for this one was exceptional. I cannot tell you how many times I changed my mind before settling on the final 10, it has been quite the task. So without further ado, here (in no particular order) are the 10 winners: @nickywade4 , @haiku_queen , @colouringcellist , @christinelarry , @rosiejasher , @wheredabargo , @gabriel_colors , @rebecca_vanherk , @alixana_a and @veronika_skya
We will be in touch to organise sending out your prizes.

Congratulations to our winners and a huge well done to everyone who entered. I’m so sorry I can’t send prizes to each and every one of you, but you are all winners for bringing my dormice to life with such vibrancy and flair! Thanks everyone for taking part, I hope you enjoyed it 😊

Always a pleasure to support @explorersagainstextinction - a wonderful conservation charity working tirelessly to safeguard wildlife and wild spaces.

Their annual charity auction, part of the #SketchForSurvival campaign, is underway, which means my print of these adorable but critically endangered pangolins is now available. So if you fancy these little beauties gracing your wall, please dig deep and help in the fight against extinction by bidding on Lot:94 over at explorersagainstextinction.co.uk, where you’ll also find full details about the campaign 😊

Today’s the day! At last publication day has arrived for the US edition of A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals, published by @chroniclebooks.

It’s so good to see ‘Wild Child’ out there in the big wide world - my first ever full-colour hardback, with illustrations (of course) and stories of a collection of extraordinary creatures. Some you’ll know and many you won’t, but what they have in common is that they’re all at risk of disappearing from our world forever - animals such as the dodo’s long-lost cousin, the tree-dwelling baby dragon and the ingenious sea otter, amongst many more. This is a subject very close to my heart and I hope Wild Child will inspire all you nature-loving kids and grown-ups alike to fall even more in love with the natural world and encourage everyone to try and help save it.
To find out a little more about the book or if you’d like to order a copy just click on the link in my bio 😊

Tomorrow, tomorrow! Finally, all you nature lovers across the pond will be able to get your paws on the US edition of A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals, published by @chroniclebooks.

Be sure to look out for this cover as it’s very different from our cover here in the UK.

To find out more about the book or to order a copy just follow the link in my bio 😊

To celebrate @booksaremybag #Bookshopday tomorrow, I will be visiting the wonderful folk at @rossiter_books in their Monmouth store from 11 am and then at their Ross store from 1pm.

If you’re in town pop by to say hello, get a book signed or just to chat about all things book. Here’s Olga pretending to read A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals, but being Romanian, English is her second language so I think she’s struggling to understand…probably just looking at the pictures ☺️

Oh lovely patterns, how I enjoy making you! These are from inside my new book ‘A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals’, out now in the UK and in the US on October 8th 😊

A little late in the day for this but it’s been a busy old day...Woohoo, it’s publication day for ‘A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals’!

It means the world to me to see this book out there at last in the big wide world and I hope you will all love it. Huge thanks to the amazing team at @particularbooks @penguinukbooks for helping to make it the most beautiful book I could have wished for 😊

Had a great day today making fox masks at Foyles book shop to celebrate the launch of ‘A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals’, out tomorrow!

Here are some of the brilliant masks my talented little gang made. Thanks to @foylesforbooks for being such great hosts 😊

My new book ‘A Wild Child’s Guide To Guide Endangered Animals’ is being released into the world on Thursday, hurrah!

I’m celebrating with a creative workshop tomorrow afternoon (Wed 28th) at Foyles bookshop on Charing Cross Road in London, where we’ll be making and decorating fox masks, perfect for wild kids! If you fancy coming along just pop over to the Foyles website and go to their ‘Events’ section for details 😊

Just two days to go until publication of my new book ‘A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals’ on Aug 29th.

I’m super excited to be releasing this book as it’s not only my first full colour book but I also ventured into writing the stories for each of the species featured. Here’s a little snippet from inside 😊

My advance copy of the US edition of A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals has just arrived and it’s looking splendid.

For those of you across the pond, this is the cover to look out for. Release in the US is October 8th 😊

Just a few weeks to go until A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals is released into the big wide world.

For those of you curious to see a little more ahead of the end of August, here’s a taster 😊

At last, the time has come that I can finally tell you all about my new book ‘A Wild Child’s Guide To Endangered Animals’.

This one is a little different for me, so I hope you will all love it. It’s a full colour hardback, with illustrations (of course) and stories all about a wonderful collection of remarkable creatures, who are all at risk of disappearing from our world forever - animals such as the Dodo’s long-lost cousin, the tree-dwelling baby dragon and the ingenious sea otter, amongst many more. It will be available on 29th August in the UK and 8th October in the US, both of which seem a long way away, so if you’d like an early sneak peak of a few of the animals featured in the book, you can use the link in my bio and if you like what you see you can also pre-order the book there too 😊

Can’t wait to share this with you all properly very very soon.

For now, a little something to whet your appetite 😊

I often receive messages asking what the animal that appears on a particular page in a particular

book actually is and what colours it might be in ‘real life’ - so I started including a list of animals at the back of each book. But, Animal Kingdom, Tropical Wonderland, Wild Savannah and Wildlife Wonders - don’t have them. So, for those of you who often wonder and would like to know exactly what you are colouring, you can now find a list of contents for each of these over on my website (link in bio). Just go to the ‘books’ section, select your book and scroll to the bottom of the page to find the link😊

But before I reveal the 10 winning entries I should say that this has been the toughest judging ever. Just one of the many masterpieces added to the colouring gallery recently by you lovely lot 😊

I’ve been beavering away on this for some time now so am very excited to reveal a little more about my next book 'Beautiful Birds and Treetop Treasures’.

From the lyrebird of the Australian tropics to the scarlet ibis of south America, the red panda of the Himalayas to the Wolf’s mona monkey of central Africa, the book explores an array of fabulous birds along with lots of other treetop creatures from all corners of the globe. I have just been told that it will now be publishing in September rather than October, so those of you eagerly awaiting its release have a month less to wait. Hurrah :)

Sharing this peacock beauty from #AnimalKingdom , expertly coloured by @hydey1990 , as today is publication day for the Animal Kingdom Book of Prints, hurrah!

It contains 20 selected illustrations from inside Animal Kingdom and features amongst others, the ever popular peacock, which appears to be one of the favourites from the original book. We have used superb heavy stock, pages are printed on one side only and are easily removable. So for those of you who like to frame your artworks, give them as gifts or are hankering after something nice and sturdy for trying out some new materials, this could be for you😊. Available now in lots of great shops and the obvious online places too.

Coming soon, the #AnimalKingdom Book of Prints, featuring 20 illustrations printed on one sided super thick paper.

Each page is removable, perfect for those of you who love to frame your work 😃. Just to avoid any confusion I should mention that there are two editions, one for the UK and international, which is out on the 9th of March and available for pre-order now, and one for the US, which is already out.

One of my recent favourites from the colouring gallery, loving these magnificently coloured giant squid from #CuriousCreatures , beautifully coloured by @safetygirl82.

Thanks to all who have been sharing and continue to share your artworks over in the gallery, keep them coming 😊. (Gallery is on my website, link in bio)

Oh hello there little numbat😊

A little treat for your peepers here with a sneaky peek inside book 5, out later this year 😊

Love these little nudibranchs from #CuriousCreatures , beautifully coloured by Jane Nunn.

Well here we are folks, 2017 already. Time (if a little belated) to wish you all a very happy and healthy new year.

What a year 2016 turned out to be. With the release of 2 books, a colouring app, stationery, patronage with @bffoundation , a homewares collection and the beginnings of a new book, it was certainly an exciting year. I feel very lucky to be able to spend my days doing something I love so much, it’s a real privilege and I would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported me and my work over the last year. Here’s to an equally exciting and adventurous 2017. Beautiful fish from #TropicalWonderland expertly coloured by the very talented @chlover_cas. Happy new year to you all 😀

With 2017 sneaking up on us there’s still a little time to get hold of my #AnimalKingdom wall calendar and #WildSavannah diary, get them now before they're gone.

Each one is filled with specially selected illustrations from the colouring books, the perfect way to satisfy your weekly / monthly colouring needs all year long. Available from lots of great shops and the obvious online places too. I can’t list all stockists here but if you have a quick google for them you’ll be sure to find them 😊

Just wanted to share one of my favourites from last week's submissions to the gallery, these incredible moths from #WildSavannah , very beautifully coloured by Sneehatl.

As usual a big thanks to all for sharing your coloured images. Keep them coming over in the gallery on my website (link in bio) 😊

How lovely it's been to hear from so many of you who’ve picked up pieces from my tableware collection over the last few weeks whilst out and about on your Christmas shopping missions.

It’s been a while since I last shared a product here so though I'd share with you today my set of 3 dipping bowls. If you fancy a little browse you'll find the collection available through lots of great stockists including @waterstones and @fenwickstores as well as lots of wonderful independent shops and various places online. You can also keep an eye on @meldhomegift for up to date info on stockists as it becomes available.

What a lovely surprise to see my colouring app featured as one of the @appstore’s Best Apps of 2016!

A huge thanks to the wonderful teams at @amphiolondon and @pavilionbooks for making this happen. If you’d like to try the app you can download it for free here: http://bit.ly/millieapp 😊

With only 10 hours left to go of the campaign, today is your last chance to get hold of a

#TropicalWonderland whale shark T-shirt from my collaboration with @m.w.s.r.p A HUGE thank you to everyone so far who has purchased one. All proceeds will be going directly to the charity and will support the conservation of a truly magnificent marine giant. So, if you'd like to be the proud owner of one our limited edition T-shirts or hoodies in time for Christmas, (other colours available by the way), just pop on over to: https://everpress.com/whale-shark-christmas-clothing.

Book 5?...don't mind if I do😊

Something a little different for you today, here’s a clip that @m.w.s.r.p shared with me of 'Chiko', a beautiful young male whale shark feeding near the surface a few days ago.

Such an incredible creature but so sad to see that to get to the plankton he needs to feed on he has to navigate around plastic bags drifting in the water. Raising awareness of the dangers of plastic waste is just one of the MWSRP initiatives you'll be raising money for by buying one of our whale shark T-shirts. If getting your hands on one our limited edition T-shirts (or hoodies) tickles your fancy or if you know someone who might love one for christmas, just follow the link: https://everpress.com/whale-shark-christmas-clothing

I could stare at these Longhorn cowfish from #CuriousCreatures all day, so beautifully coloured by the very talented @photo_calendar.

These odd little fish come from the boxfish family and it is believed that their horns have evolved to make them difficult to swallow, therefore making them unappealing to predators in search of a snack. Clever little fish 😊

Great to receive this yesterday, my very own limited edition, screen printed whale shark T-shirt, sporting my very own illustration straight from the pages of #TropicalWonderland.

And rather lovely it is too. If you’d like to get your hands on one of these little beauties you only have one week left to do so. And for those of you who are feeling the icy chill of winter upon us we also have hoodies available too. All proceeds will go to supporting the conservation of the magnificent whale shark through the incredible work of @m.w.s.r.p. So, whether you’re a Tropical Wonderland fan or keen on conservation, pop over here to find out a little more: https://everpress.com/whale-shark-christmas-clothing

Time for a creature feature from #CuriousCreatures , the Giant oarfish.

This is the world’s longest bony fish and can grow up to a whopping 55ft (17m) in length. With its splendorous crest of fin rays, bizarre ability to swim hanging vertically as well as lying horizontally and its gargantuan size it’s no wonder this curious creature has been the source of many a sea serpent myth.

With the whale shark T-shirt campaign in collaboration with @m.w.s.r.p now up and running I have

whale sharks on the brain and would love to see all your colourful whale sharks from #TropicalWonderland , such as this gorgeous example by Georgette Moore. Tag your creations with #millieforwhalesharks and I will be selecting and sharing my favourites over the next couple of weeks.
If you would like to find out more about how to get your hands on your very own limited edition, charity-supporting, Tropical Wonderland Whale Shark T-shirt (phew), just visit: https://everpress.com/whale-shark-christmas-clothing

I can't stop looking at these amazing dragonflies, which appeared in the colouring gallery earlier this week.

Oh so beautifully coloured by the very talented @colouringthepages , taken from #WildSavannah. I love seeing all your coloured creations flooding into the gallery over on my website so please keep them coming (link in bio) 😀

I'm very excited to announce that my campaign in collaboration with #m.w.s.r.p is now live and

you can get your paws on some rather nice limited edition T-shirts and hoodies, for both men and women, all sporting my whale shark illustration from #TropicalWonderland. Best of all is that all proceeds will go to supporting the conservation of these magnificent marine giants. International shipping is available and the campaign will end on 5th December so don't miss out! Take a look here: everpress.com/whale-shark-christmas-clothing 😃.

I'm thrilled to share news of my recent collaboration with the brilliant Maldives Whale Shark

Research Programme @m.w.s.r.p We've worked together to bring you some rather lovely garments using my whale shark illustration from #TropicalWonderland. And with all proceeds going to whale shark conservation I couldn't think of a more fitting role for the image. You'll be able to get your mitts on the goodies very soon, stay tuned for the launch this week 😃

One of my all time favourites from #CuriousCreatures , I give you the Tibetan Fox.

It has a strangely square-shaped head which is rather large compared to the rest of its body and narrow eyes that suggest this little fox is rather pleased with itself. Despite its strange looks I think this is one handsome fox and a charming little critter that I can't help but adore.

A little glimpse from inside my 2017 diary, containing selected illustrations from Wild Savannah.

Available now from lots of great shops, both online and in-store.

For those of you who have been looking forward to another new pack becoming available in my colouring app, I'm very pleased to announce that you need wait no longer!

The 'Curious Sea Creatures' pack, which contains 6 images of weird and wonderful sea creatures from #CuriousCreatures is here for you to colour to your heart's content. Here's one I started earlier myself. If you'd like to have a gander at the app (for iPad) just pop on over to the App Store and search for Millie Marotta's Colouring Adventures. Enjoy 😊

Time for a creature feature from #CuriousCreatures , I bring you the Malayan tapir.

With their odd bendy snouts, little peg teeth and beady eyes, tapirs really are curious looking beasts. People often think tapirs must be related to pigs or elephants but their closest living relatives are horses and rhinos. Though like elephants, tapirs can use their snouts as snorkels when swimming.

What a beauty. Had to share this, the magnificent Great grey owl from #CuriousCreatures , beautifully & skilfully coloured by the super talented Martha Hopkins 😀

Great news for those of you who are not in the UK and have been asking about getting your mitts on my @marksandspencer stationery collection, M&S offers international delivery, hurrah!

Alternatively if you are in either Australia, USA, Canada or New Zealand you can shop on the dedicated M&S websites for those countries. 😀

It's the final countdown, the Colouring For Conservation competition closes tomorrow so you have just over 24 hours to submit your entries via the colouring gallery on my website.

If you haven't downloaded my hermit crab illustration yet you can get hold of it here http://www.pavilionbooks.com/helpthehermit/ Will have my work cut out for me judging this one 😊

Earlier this year I worked on a little stationery range for @marksandspencer , which I'm very pleased to say is now available.

It includes illustrated sticky notes, list pad, magazine file, weekly planner, gorgeous pencil tin and a lovely soft-back journal. Making all those list-making, schedule-planning, filing-related tasks a little more interesting. You can get your hands on the full collection in stores UK wide or online at M&S.

What a corker. I had to share this lovely piece from the gallery, superbly coloured by the very talented Saren Pinto.

Love it. #tropicalwonderland

Introducing one of my favourites from my tableware collection, the large dragonfly bowl.

I've received lots of questions about whether the collection is available in various countries, the answer is that for the moment I'm afraid it is only available in the UK. However, there is the option of placing international orders on Amazon if you wanted to do that. They have most items available now and should have the full collection within the next week or so. Hope that helps a little for those of you outside of the UK who are eager to get hold of pieces. For those of you here at home there are lots of stockists including @waterstones and @fenwickstores as well as lots of great independent shops and various places online too. (For up to date info on stockists as it becomes available you can also keep an eye on the @meldhomegift Facebook page).

Printed on heavy white stock and containing 12 specially selected images to colour from the original book. It's available now from various stores and online, I can't list every stockist but if you have a little Google around you will be sure to find it😊

Oh hello there little Fennec Fox. Just had to share this from Curious Creatures, expertly coloured by @some_things13.

Not my usual morning view. Hello Toronto😊

This month we’re colouring for marine conservation.

I’m lucky enough to live in the UK's only coastal national park and feel very privileged to have such beautiful beaches and incredible marine wildlife so close by. But, with so many threats to Britain’s marine environment and its inhabitants it's important that we do whatever we can to protect these species and ensure the future health of our seas. That’s why I’ve partnered with the Marine Conservation Society for 'Colouring for Conservation' - a campaign for the creation of more Marine Protected Areas in the UK, and I would love your help. If you’d like to get involved you can... Sign the petition here to support the campaign for more Marine Protected Areas: www.mcsuk.org/colouring

Colour my illustration of the hermit crab from #CuriousCreatures , which you can download here: http://bit.ly/HelpTheHermit and share on social media using #helpthehermit. You can also tag the Marine Conservation Society on Instagram using @MCS_UK.

And finally, it’s competition time again and your chance to win a signed copy of Curious Creatures. After such a brilliant response to the last colouring competition I’ve decided to run another one already and this time we’re colouring for marine conservation. To enter just submit your coloured hermit crab to the colouring gallery over on my website (link in bio), making sure to chose ‘Colouring for Conservation’ from the title options and your coloured hermit crab will automatically be entered. Drumroll...at last, after much deliberation I'm very pleased to announce that the winners of the Curious Platypus colouring competition have been chosen.

You can see all 10 winning entries in the Curious Platypus Winners Gallery over on my Facebook page (link in bio). Meanwhile a huge congratulations to the following Instagram entries, you are amongst the winning 10 @lucianaphisilvera @martty_m @andysm0 @cora_colours @dishnspoon

Please direct message me here with your details so we can send out your prizes. A huge thanks to everyone for taking part. I was overwhelmed by how many of you participated and by how beautiful, inventive and unique your submissions all were. It was incredibly difficult to narrow it down to just 10 and I wish I could have chosen you all as winners 😊

For today's featured creature from #CuriousCreatures I bring you the Elephant shrew.

Though not actually a shrew at all, amazingly it is indeed related to the elephant and the aardvark. It's long, flexible snout can twist and turn in search of food just like an elephant's trunk. 😊

The name 'gerenuk' means 'giraffe neck' in Somali, but this endearing creature is actually a gazelle.

It's grazing advantage of having an unusually long neck is enhanced by its ability to stand on its hind legs. They choose to eat the juiciest shoots and leaves, which can give them all the moisture they need. Amazingly, they can go their whole lives without ever taking a drink of water.

From inside #CuriousCreatures , today I bring you a snippet about this little character, The Macaroni Penguin.

This little penguin with its splendid eyebrows was named by English explorers in the mid-eighteenth century, when a young man who wore flashy feathers in his hat would be called a 'macaroni'. Rather a fitting name for a bird with such a dandy appearance 🐧

Sharpen your pencils and get your pens at the ready, at last publication day for #CuriousCreatures is here!

From the Amazonian royal flycatcher with its flamboyant feathered headdress to the downright bizarre Duck-billed platypus, the book is crammed full with some of the world's most fascinating and remarkable creatures and I'm so pleased to finally be sharing it with you 😊

Only one more day until publication day for #CuriousCreatures.

Until then here's a peek at the poison dart frogs from inside the book, expertly coloured by the very talented Samantha Wilkes, thank you Samantha😊

As release day for #CuriousCreatures draws closer and with only two days to go here's another peek from inside the book, the magnificent Shoebill.

Huge thanks to the very talented Kate Holt for her equally magnificent colouring 😀

Continuing with the countdown to publication day for #CuriousCreatures.

With 3 days to go today's taster from the book is this little character, the Patagonian mara. Big thanks to @_i_am_moi_ for the amazing colouring 😊

The countdown continues. With only only 4 days to go until publication day I'm sharing another teaser from #CuriousCreatures , this time the irresistibly charming three toed sloth.

Amazing colouring work in progress by the wonderful @tvchard1.

5 days and counting until the release of #CuriousCreatures , hurrah!

Here's a little taster from inside the book to whet your colouring appetite...The Malayan Tapir, a rather odd but incredibly endearing little beast. Looking forward to sharing the rest of my curious creatures with you very soon.

There's only one week to go until the official release of #CuriousCreatures , can't wait for you to see it.

Over the coming weeks I'll be sharing a little insight into some of the amazing creatures featured in the book. Kicking us off today is the adorable Duck-billed platypus.
One of my all-time favourites, for its complete and utter oddness. Its bizarre appearance - looking part-duck, part-beaver and part-otter - made the first scientists to observe one believe they had a hoax on their hands. Despite being a mammal, the platypus lays eggs and is one of only 5 types of mammal that do so.
#milliemarotta #curiousplatypus

Over the last couple of weeks I have been made aware of some counterfeit copies of Animal Kingdom and Tropical Wonderland making their way onto the market.

These copies appear to be coming out of the Philippines and possibly China, some of which have recently started appearing in Australia. Please keep a beady eye out for these and avoid them at all costs. They are distinctly inferior to the real books, with poor quality paper and bad printing, not at all the colouring experience I want any of you to have! #adultcolouringbooks #colortherapy #milliemarotta #adultcoloring #colouringbook #illustration #handdrawn #animalkingdom #tropicalwonderland #wildsavannah #ostrich #beadyeye
